Economic hardship due to Corona's second wave; Hu-dha declines in metropolitan earnings
Dharwad: The country is not completely free from the horrors of the second wave of Corona. Amidst a lot of death and suffering, the entire country is once again in financial distress. Every district now faces financial hardship. Hubli-Dharwad metropolitan area has been hit with financial woes, this time with a tax collection of Rs 22.87 crore in April and May. Hu-dha metropolitan earnings have been hit more than the last lockdown.
Lockdown during the first wave of Corona was a tax collection of Rs 36 crore. Hubli-Dharwad metropolitan area saw a decline in revenues during the lockdown this year, with total tax collection in April and May at Rs 22.87 crore. Revenue has been fluctuating due to the lockdown, said Suresh Itna, the city's Commissioner for Policy.
The tax collection comes as Corona has set up H-D-01 centers to ease property tax and other taxes for people in the city of Hubli-Dharwad due to Janata curfew and lock-down restrictions to reduce the intensity of the second wave. On the one hand people are financially battered and on the other hand the lock-down effect is not taxable.
Corona, which has brought financial hardship to everyone, is now axing the city's revenue. A policy that had previously suffered from economic hardship would now face further hardship and set the stage for development.
